De prachtige Magnoliaboom komt oorspronkelijk uit het zuiden van de Verenigde staten en kan daar wel 30 meter hoog worden! Onze mooie kunst Magnolia (ook wel bekend onder de naam Abelia), heeft vergeleken daarbij maar een bescheiden formaat. Toch maakt hij een onuitwisbare indruk. De ovaalvormige bladeren van deze kunst Abelia zijn gemaakt van zijde, de stam is van hout en je zou haast zweren dat hij echt was. Verwacht alleen geen witte bloemen in de zomer. De Magnolia Grandiflora is ook verkrijgbaar in een maatje groter.
