Ficus is een populaire kamerplant waarvan men houdt vanwege het weelderige, groene blad en zijn luchtzuiverende eigenschappen. Het komt van nature voor in tropische regio's, zoals Azië, Afrika en Australië. In zijn natuurlijke habitat groeit de Ficus in verschillende omgevingen, waaronder regenwouden, kustgebieden en zelfs droge regio's. De plant gedijt goed in warme en vochtige omstandigheden, waardoor het uitstekend geschikt is voor binnenomgevingen waar de temperatuur wordt gehandhaafd rond 70-75°F (21-24°C). Met de juiste zorg kan de Ficus een mooie en onderhoudsvriendelijke toevoeging worden aan elke binnenruimte, terwijl het ook de luchtkwaliteit verbetert door verontreinigende stoffen te filteren. Om voor de Ficus te zorgen, is het het beste om deze op een plek met halfschaduw te plaatsen om deze te beschermen tegen direct zonlicht. Geef de plant eens per week water en laat de grond tussen elke waterbeurt lichtjes opdrogen. Ficus groeit goed in goed doorlatende grond, dus het wordt aanbevolen om deze te planten in een mix van veenmos, perliet en zand.
