De Calathea is een opvallende groene kamerplant die bekend staat om zijn unieke en kleurrijke bladpatronen. Deze kamerplant heeft vaak een combinatie van groen met donkere en lichte tinten en de onderkant van de bladeren is vaak prachtig paars. Dit maakt de Calathea een echte eyecatcher in ieder interieur. Deze kamerplant komt uit de tropische gebieden van Zuid-Amerika en groeit daar in de schaduwrijke ondergroei van het regenwoud. In zijn natuurlijke habitat profiteert de Calathea van de vochtige en beschermde omgeving, waarmee bij de verzorging thuis rekening moet worden gehouden. Deze plant wordt ook wel ‘medaillon’ genoemd vanwege de ronde vorm van de bladeren, die op een medaillon lijken. Hoewel de verzorging van deze kamerplant vrij eenvoudig is, wordt de Calathea beschouwd als een soort diva onder de kamerplanten. Hij stelt speciale eisen aan licht en vochtigheid, maar met een beetje aandacht en verzorging kan iedereen genieten van zijn prachtige bladeren. Geleverd samen met een Viber pot. De pot is gemaakt van bioplastic met olifantengras van Nederlandse bodem. De pot is biologisch afbreekbaar en natuurlijk gekleurd door krijt.
