De bladeren zijn stekelig en hebben een lichtgrijze tint met enkele heldere groene accenten. Callisia Turtle: Deze plant heeft rondachtige bladeren met een prachtig patroon van groen en zilver. De bladeren zijn relatief klein en dicht bij elkaar gegroepeerd, waardoor een volle, aantrekkelijke uitstraling ontstaat. In de zomer kan de Callisia Turtle kleine, onopvallende bloemen produceren.
