Verzorging en onderhoud van de Aloe brevifolia

Care and maintenance of the Aloe brevifolia

The Aloe brevifolia , often known as the crocodile aloe, is a compact, easy-care succulent that impresses with its gray-green, spiky leaves and its ability to grow in clusters. This plant is not only attractive but also exceptionally hardy, making it a popular choice for both indoor and outdoor gardens.

The Aloe brevifolia thrives best in a sunny environment. Give it a spot with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day to keep its leaves deep green and stimulate its natural growth. Indoors, it is best placed near a south or west-facing window. In a garden, it fits perfectly in a rockery or on a sunny patio.

As for watering, this plant is very frugal. Let the soil dry out completely before watering again to prevent root rot. In the winter, when the plant is dormant, it hardly needs any water. Use a well-draining soil, such as cactus soil, or mix sand with regular potting soil to ensure that excess water drains quickly.

The Aloe brevifolia needs little fertilization. A light cactus fertilizer once a year in spring or early summer is sufficient. Because this plant grows slowly, pruning is generally not necessary, but you can remove dead or damaged leaves to keep it looking neat.

In colder climates, Aloe brevifolia is not fully hardy. Make sure it is protected from temperatures below 5°C by moving it indoors or covering it during the winter months.
